The Story of Us

Picture of The Story of Us

Our love story began online on April 16, 2021. What started as a simple connection quickly grew into something neither of us could ignore. We matched instantly, began talking, and almost immediately knew this felt different. After being single for a long time, Sherilyn knew exactly what she was waiting for. As a devoted single mom to three daughters—Maddie, Kylie, and Corinne—she was determined to wait for a partner who truly fit her life and her heart. Sean was also a dedicated single parent, raising his son Taylor and daughter Lindsey. From the very beginning, we bonded not only as a couple, but through our shared commitment to family, honesty, and what truly matters. Our first date took place in Folsom, California. Sherilyn asked Sean to meet for a walk on the trails—an excuse to step away from the office and enjoy some fresh air. The walk quickly turned into hours of conversation, and before we knew it, we found ourselves at Hacienda, talking even longer over dinner. From that very first day, everything felt natural, comfortable, and exciting all at once. That same evening, Sean had to leave town for work. At the time, he was driving long-haul routes to Chicago for UPS and was nervous about how that might be received. But life was busy for both of us, and we understood each other. Even with the miles between us, the connection didn’t fade. We texted constantly while Sean was on the road, getting to know each other more with every message. When Sean returned that Thursday afternoon, there was no hesitation—we met up for dinner right away. The distance had only made it clearer how much we wanted to be together.Within just a few dates, we both knew we had found our person. Everything clicked. One of our favorite early memories still makes us smile—it took six dates before Sean finally kissed Sherilyn, on May 7th, during a picnic by the lake. It was absolutely worth the wait. Before long, we fell deeply in love and began building a life together. Sean soon moved in with Sherilyn, and our families began to blend into one. Between us, we have five children, all of whom will stand with us as our wedding party. Maddie and her husband Mason have given us two beautiful grandchildren, Taytum and Baylor, who bring endless joy to our lives. Our kids are close in age, have bonded naturally, and truly love being together as a family. Lindsey and Corinne live with us full-time, while Kylie and Taylor are off building their own paths—always connected, always family. For more than five years, we have built a beautiful life filled with trust, laughter, and unwavering support. We genuinely love spending time together—traveling, enjoying quiet moments at home, and making memories with our family. We trust each other completely, and life together is simply happy.Travel has always been a big part of our story. From our very first weekend away together at the family cabin on Donner Lake to countless adventures since, we have loved exploring side by side. One of our favorite places is right at home on Folsom Lake, where we spend time on our cabin cruiser, often camping overnight and soaking in lake life—one of our greatest joys. Most recently, we traveled through Italy, Malta, Spain, and France on a trip originally planned to celebrate Sean’s 60th birthday with close friends and family. While cruising off the coast of Sicily, Italy, Sean completely surprised Sherilyn with a proposal. Surrounded by the people we love and the magic of a moment we will never forget, she said yes. What began with a message online turned into a love story defined by patience, connection, and the belief that the right person is always worth the wait. We have talked about marriage for most of our relationship—we always knew this was where our story was headed. Now, with hearts full of gratitude and excitement, we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you—to officially join our families, become one, and begin this next chapter together. Thank you for being part of our journey. We are so excited to share this day, and our love, with the people who mean the most to us.
